On the Road Again ... Just back on the East Coast from California and the Bay Area Expo, Nancy and I were standing outside our favorite local watering hole when, swish, what was that? Swish, swish, what were they? Could it be? We looked all around and, yes, it was true. The were leaves, falling leaves. They were falling leaves already turning as the late August slant of afternoon light presaged the coming of the Autumnal equinox. If you crane your neck and tune your ears just right, you can hear the sounds of geese exercising their vocal apparatus along the Delaware canal. They, too, sense the coming of the equinox and with it the beginning of their long journey south. Soon we will see the long flying Vs of geese winging their way to warmer climates to escape the coming of winter and the icing over of the canal. For us at UFO Magazine, the equinox also means a migration, a migration west to Los Angeles and the setting up shop, again, on the edge of Santa Monica Bay. But it also means gearing up for the new projects that will carry us through the end of this year and into the next. There is the new distribution medium for UFO Magazine: MP3 audio files. There are the new working relationships with all of the radio shows in the ring of podcasts and broadcasts we will be featuring on the website. And there is the collection of video podcasts we will be featuring on our website, podcasts that you will be able to copy onto your iPods, digital video players, and even your iPhones. Fall also means that the New York publishing season is picking up again after its long summer vacation on Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard, the East End, the Berkshires, Pound Ridge, Bucks County, and other very pricey locations. These last weeks of August, New York City has been a ghost town, held in place by a skeleton crew of assistants and associates who commute each day while the bosses play. But all that is over now. September will be a blur with a frenzy interrupted by three holidays and a push towards December. Television networks will pore over the early-ratings returns, making plans for the spring season. Publishers will line their big Christmas releases up like planes taxiing along the runway, waiting for take-off clearance. And UFO Magazine will gear up for what I believe will be a series of articles that will blow the lid off whatever coverup still remains. And by the middle of next year, I hope, even those in power behind closed doors in the aerospace industrywhere the true secrets of the alien craft are keptwill come to the conclusion that, "Coverup? We don't need no steenkin' coverup because the truth is already out there." Maybe, looking at what I'm already looking at right now, by next year but within this publishing season, UFO Magazine, with Ronnie and Pat, along with all our good friends like George, George, Jerry, Ian, Kate, Jim, Gene and Dave, Steve B, Steve G, Victor, Jack, Jon, Dave, Edwin, and The History Channel will finally yank the tarp right off ... what ... You'll Find Out ... smack dab in the middle of the Ellipse, MacArthur Park, and Washington Square Park for all to see. It will be the Mother of all Yanks. Stay tuned, and keep your pods warmed up.
