The importance of being important ...

Democratic presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich just admitted during the presidential debate that he did, in fact, see a UFO. I'm not sure if he was then joking when he said he was going to move his campaign headquarters to New Mexico & Exeter, New Hampshire because he said it in the same way he delivered the sentences before and after saying that. If he was joking, it's a very telling quip because although everyone knows what New Mexico is a reference to, you have to be very familiar with ufology to get the Exeter quip.

In any event, he admitted to it and I'm both happy and sad. Happy to see this subject dealt with seriously if for only a few seconds, if only for Steve Bassett to cream himself tomorrow morning in his newsletter. Sad because this was the end of the "debate," which consisted of this question, followed by "Is there life in outer space" followed by a question about cancer written in by lance Armstrong, and ended by "What Halloween costume will you be wearing?"

My roommate Brian had just sat down, not knowing what was on TV. "This is a debate?" he asked incredulously. Indeed. In America, this is the kind of stuff that passes for debate. My only surprise is that there was a question from Lance Armstrong and not Lance Bass.
